THE PERFECT STORM
With the children now grown up and living
away from the family home, this couple
decided to extend their home, giving them
a blank canvas to design their new space
exactly as they desired. Their design would
be an expression of them as a couple; a
place that reflects their story, celebrates
their family and forms the foundation for the
next chapter of their lives.
One of their most memorable and
cherished moments with their family took
place during a trip to Malaysia. As they sat
enjoying dinner one evening at the Thirty8
restaurant overlooking the city, the skies
opened and they witnessed one of the
most dramatic storms they have ever seen.
The moody clouds above the city skyline,
interrupted by electric lightening cutting
through the dark sky and momentarily
illuminating the city below. Not wanting to
venture outside, the family all stayed until
the early hours of the morning drinking
cocktails, talking, laughing, sharing stories
and enjoying each other’s company.
It is the experience of this moment that
forms the central concept for their kitchen
design which is translated through subtle
details throughout the kitchen.
